Analysis of Behavioral Exchangeability of Services

In this dissertation, we consider deadlock freedom as a behavioral correctness criterion of service interaction and accordingly classify two different notions of well-designed update of a service : q Equivalence : a service S’ is an equivalent update of a service S S and S’ have exactly the same set of deadlock-free partners q Accordance : a service S’ is an accordant update of a service S every deadlock-free partner of S is also a deadlock-free partner of S’ To assist the rapid and effective administration of well-designed updates of a service, a service designer, e.g. a domain expert, requires a tool that supports the correct-by-design development of a service’s update. Such a tool should allow a service designer to perform analysis of a service’s update systematically at the design time before implementing an update. Nevertheless, a service in such a context is subject to changes due to unpredictable circumstances after disastrous event occurs. For instance, a regulation or a rule of engagement must be adjusted to an emerging incident, or, due to unforeseen events, a completely new service must be integrated into the system.
